Nijigen Art Contest: I would like to thank everyone who submitted artwork for their time and talent, as well as the effort they put forth in helping me add content to this site to better promote Nijigen. This contest was very close, and I'm sad to say that I didn't add in a third prize slot; however, my funds are limited, and there are only so many promotions I can run before going bankrupt.

Below are results, images, and comments for the first quarter of the 2003 Nijigen Art Contest.

Artist: Rym[bles]
Design: Pencil.
Status: First Place.
Notes: Although strewn with technical flaws, this drawing best captures the mood of Nijigen: the slaying of a manticore. Dramatic shading, subtleties, and fine drawing make this submission the winner.

Artist: Tai Xing
Design: Pencil, pen.
Status: Second Place.
Notes: Uniquely and well-drawn, this Arowen (a race created by Tai herself) is nearly perfect. Subtle shading provides an almost gossamer mood, which is appropriate as it dwells in La'Tira.

Artist: Sharad Waador
Design: Borrowed image, photoshop.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: Not much to say. It's a water wraith. No, I wouldn't have guessed it by looking at it. Maybe an angry, purple woman with plastic shoulder pads and a power suit?

Artist: Kahl Nishan
Design: Pencil.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: A winged staffmaster. It has wings, but no staff. Of course, the trench coat does add mystery to the personality.

Artist: Seirya
Design: Pencil, and photoshop.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: An incredibly good photoshop job, and a great job drawing the face. However, the rest of it could've been better. Keep trying! You may win next time. :)

Artist: Tai Xing
Design: Pencil.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: Earth golem and sprite. A very well depicted golem. However, there is very little detail to go on, and the sprite's face seemed a bit off. As per that drawing style, it could've been better.

Artist: Circ Aloriath
Design: Pencil, pen, colored pencils.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: A very dwell drawn dual-headed fire-hawk, but a horribly drawn giant hazel siga mink which, combined with evil colored pencils, created a crappy drawing. If only I had taken more time. :(

Artist: Hidoshi Nobunaga
Design: Pencil.
Status: Honorable mention.
Notes: Well proportioned, and creative, this "gizamaluke" is rather scary. However, it's only an outline - no shading, detail, or anything to bring it to life. As such, it remains an honorable mention.

Updated: I made a few changes to the site, just 'cause I had nothing else to do. Login to Nijigen and an actual link to Anime Cap.
