The Law
"In the arena of human life the honors and rewards fall to those who show their good qualities." ~ Aristotle.
"The only stable state is the one in which all men are equal before the law." ~ Aristotle.
Much like the creation of
Hammurabi's cylinder, it is a strange and rare blessing when a discordant nation is granted the security afforded by proper, equitable law; a strong rule where even those noble philosophers are willing to put themselves beneath its sway, so that justice may be truly served. Likewise, law without consequence is powerless, and position without authority is like a wise lamb being given to foolish wolves.
Just as Nijigen has many nations, it requires many divisions of law; the law of Elvendsraa is in logical opposition to the law of the Underworld, so, as such, it should be the first objective to obey civil authorities and those over you, respecting all legal provisions, as they are relative to individuals, as one would the general law beneath which all are subject. Likewise, within smaller groups--clans, tribes, sects, cities--there are further laws, beneath which those who willingly take on the protection of these laws are also subject to the consequences of discarding them.
While these pages cannot account for all divisions of the law, for all individuals, tribes, and nations, one may still glean insight regarding the common law, to which all are subject--even rulers, philosophers, and makers of the law--whatever their personal law, tribal law, or national law requires of them. As all are under common law, all should strive to obey it more fervently than the lesser laws of nations, tribes, and individuals, each in order, so that when one is accused of breaking lesser laws they may be found guiltless when handed over to higher authorities, as is the right of all accused.
Keepers of the Law: Those granted the utmost ability and discretion in administration of the law, and also are the last acceptable means of appeal, may be found by typing "
/owner" while in Nijigen. While going to the creator of Nijigen is a means of swiftly manipulating victory in your favor, such activity will not be equitable long-term. Consequences of discarding the decisions of the Keepers of the Law vary, from deprivation, to isolation, to being banned.
Common Law: The law beneath which all those who choose to play Nijigen, whether-or-not they have paid for a Gold Account, are subject and will in receipt of the consequences contained herein with respect to which facets of the law were discarded. In addition, all those who choose to play Nijigen are expected to follow the regulations of Anime Capsule X as outlined in the
Terms and Conditions, and are subject to any penalties defined therein.
Roles: Whatever role(s) one chooses to wear the mantle(s) of on entering Nijigen, they will required to act in accordance with, including all transitional aspects of their character(s). Although role-playing is not an absolute requirement for the entire time one is logged in to Nijigen, it is a commission to all players during their interactions with one another. Superficial aspects of a player's role(s) are affiliation, status, garments, race, and class, and it is on these things that they may be judged.
Consequence: Discarding the above may result in privileges being revoked, changes of race, affiliation, et cetera.
Artistic License: Nijigen, as a player-built society, is subject to the artistic license of its player population, seen in the descriptions of shops, cities, roads, and other features therein. Specific to land is also the option to include links to additional information resources. Profanity, vulgarity, player harassment, or obscenity will
not be considered acceptable use of artistic license pertaining to these accommodations. Furthermore, it is expected that employing artist license be done properly, although not necessarily complex and flowery, e.g.: "
A shed where %USERNAME% stores weapons" being an example of the miniscule effort asked of writers.
Consequence: Discarding the above may result in removal of the inappropriate use of artistic license, a warning, privileges being revoked, banning, et cetera.
Bug Abuse: Sometimes players will stumble upon bugs in the game which, occasionally, may be very profitable for them to use in a clandestine fashion. Despite this temptation, it is in the best interest of the player to report these bugs to proper authorities immediately, although they should feel no inhibitions in regard to testing the bug in order to determine the true source of the problem. Failure to report bugs when the opportunity is available will result in severe consequences. Making the bug common knowledge only serves to enlarge the problem, and is not a recommended means of ridding oneself of the responsibility of finding it. Bugs may be rewarded if reported promptly and properly.
Consequence:: Discarding the above may result in privileges being revoked, banning, et cetera.
Ethics
Bots and Macros: While the use of bots in Nijigen is frowned upon, there seems to be no way to prevent them, and as such there will be no policy terminating the use of such programs. In addition, bots seem typically appropriate to make the game more enjoyable, although increasingly short-lived, and the use of such is left up to the discretion of the players as to whether-or-not they desire to partake of the full gaming experience. Macros falls under the same policy, and are commonly used to ease repetitive typing, which seems to be a common flaw all MUDs are subject to.
Player Harassment: Within the scope of player harassment are the activities of killing, stalking, stealing, tricking, reallocating, and otherwise making a the gaming experience of Nijigen unsatisfactory for others. Such activity that occurs outside the scope of a player's role may be subject to the consequences outlined in the
Roles section of this document. Harassing a new player who is unfamiliar with Nijigen is unacceptable, and if such an inclination arises it is best to ignore the player in question.
Other areas falling under player harassment are generally being annoying, needy, lazy, and feigning incompetence as a means of manipulating others into training, getting experience, or otherwise assisting in the development of their character.
Custom Items
Custom items can only be added by two people, thus far, in Nijigen, but the proper person to discuss this with is Sharad Waador. There are three tiers of custom items in Nijigen, which will be examined. Going to Shinji to have an item made will likely be ignored or delayed for a very long time, and is an ineffectual means of acquiring a custom item. In addition, there is the very likely probability of Sharad Waador removing the item from your possession after it is made as a means of punishment for not going through the appropriate channels and distracting Shinji from actual MRPG source development.
Item Renames: Renaming an item, without any changes to its statistics, will cost approximately two million crowns (the Nijigen currency), unless you manage to work out other arrangements with Sharad Waador. Players, to my knowledge, are allowed as many renames as they can afford.
Item Splices: Splicing an item with another one or some form of multiple-item amalgamation will cost a player two million gold coins
the first time around, after which, additional items will cost
real money, in an amount dependent on the power of the item and Sharad Waador's mood. Players, to my knowledge, are allowed as many item splices as they can afford.
Customized Items: Creating an original item with the player's choice of stats, special effects, et cetera will cost
real money in addition to a unique or rare item pre-existing in the game, in an amount dependent on the power of the item and Sharad Waador's mood. Players, to my knowledge, are only allowed one or two of these items.
The only other ways to get a unique item in Nijigen are to either find it through exploration, trading another player for theirs, stealing one from another player, or distinguishing yourself through excellent role-play and character management in Nijigen. However, in all of these scenarios, the player has no opinion as to the name of the item, its power, et cetera.
